{"id":1253,"date":"2025-12-11T19:15:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T19:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iiivytiynv.com\/?p=1253"},"modified":"2025-12-11T19:15:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T19:15:16","slug":"forward-forced-to-backtrack-on-professor-jordan-peterson-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iiivytiynv.com\/?p=1253","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Forward\u2019 forced to backtrack on Professor Jordan Peterson story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWe closely monitor white supremacist media,\u201d said CAMERA analyst Dexter Van Zile, who himself has been the target of white nationalist attacks. \u201cMy colleague Jonah Cohen quickly proved that\u00a0<em>Forward<\/em>\u00a0journalist Ari Feldman misled readers that Peterson has support among far-right racist communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exact opposite is the case,\u201d said Van Zile. \u201cNeo-Nazis and white nationalists vehemently hate Jordan Peterson. It\u2019s a demonstrable fact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cohen published his findings in a much-discussed article in the\u00a0<em>Weekly Standard<\/em>\u00a0titled \u201cThe Shameful, Unethical Smearing of Jordan Peterson.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the article, Cohen concluded: \u201cIn sum, what Feldman did was to 1) lie about a neo-Nazis\u2019 opinion of Peterson; 2) use that lie to suggest he has a vast neo-Nazi following at the\u00a0<em>Daily Stormer<\/em>; 3) conceal all the Jews who like [Peterson]; and 4) seek out political partisans to smear him as a possible Holocaust-denier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to Cohen\u2019s article, Michael Shermer, editor of\u00a0<em>Skeptic\u00a0<\/em>magazine which debunks myths and pseudoscience,\u00a0tweeted: \u201cThe\u00a0<em>Forward<\/em>\u00a0just jumped the shark by going after Jordan Peterson &amp; gets royally nailed for it by the Weekly Standard. Shameful disregard of the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cohen wrote, \u201cEven the most superficial reading of Peterson\u2019s\u00a0<em>oeuvre<\/em>\u00a0suffices to show he\u2019s an uncompromising enemy of anti-Semitism\u2014and a real friend to the Jewish people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Forward<\/em>\u00a0was then forced to remove Feldman\u2019s false claims about neo-Nazi support for Peterson. It also had to change what it reported about Emory University professor Deborah Lipstadt, after she took Feldman to task for misrepresenting her comments in the article.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Feldman contacted me, I explicitly told him that I had never read Peterson\u2019s work and knew very little about him,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forward.com\/opinion\/letters\/401548\/deborah-lipstadt-on-her-comments-about-jordan-peterson\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/forward.com\/opinion\/letters\/401548\/deborah-lipstadt-on-her-comments-about-jordan-peterson\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1527098939586000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGgKz7NsWY4PtNm2yFDjybuA3QbFA\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0Lipstadt.
